ABOUT AMY
Hi! Thank you for clicking your way over here to learn a bit about me! That’s me on the right.
I am a family photographer, based out of Alexandria, VA, and I serve the DC metro and surrounding areas. I have a bachelor’s degree in History from Bethel University in Saint Paul, MN.
I have always enjoyed photography. As a young child, I was more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. In high school I had the opportunity to take a few photography classes; this was before digital, so it was all film and darkroom. I fell in love with the art of photography. Photography was a hobby for years, focused mainly on landscape photography, although I did do a few weddings, senior pictures and children’s portraits.
After taking several years hiatus and with much encouragement (hhmmm…badgering) from my loving family and friends, I decided to dust off my camera and take the plunge. I love photography more now than I did as a child, if that is possible, and everyday my love grows.
Fun facts about me:
- Born/Raised: In Minnesota, but spent my school-age years in Northern Iowa
- Current camera: Canon 5D Mark III, 70D for backup
- Year I started shooting professionally: 2013
- What’s my style: Relaxed. Unique (not cookie-cutter). Fun.
- Favorite drink while editing images: Pinot Grigio
So relax and have a look around. There’s a lot to see!
